TWISTERS JUNIORS 2026 RE-CAP

Under 10 Boys White
The Under 10 Boys White team began the season as an inexperienced group with limited touch football knowledge. Through dedication, hard work and a fantastic willingness to learn, the boys grew into a strong, cohesive team that developed a real understanding of how to play the game.

The coaching team is incredibly proud of every single player for the effort and commitment they showed throughout the season. Their improvements allowed the team to compete effectively at rep level.

Under 10 Boys Blue
What an incredible Junior State Cup campaign for our Under 10 Boys Blue Twisters team!
It was an absolute pleasure for Aleisha and I to coach this fantastic group of boys. From our very first training session to the final game at JSC, it was amazing to see how much every player developed their skills, confidence and understanding of the game. Their improvement was a credit to the effort they put in at training and throughout the carnival.

Most importantly, the boys brought a positive attitude every time they took the field, supported one another, and represented the Twisters with pride.

Under 10 Girls White
Our Under 10 Girls White team had a great campaign at JSC this year, making it to the Quarter Finals

Finishing 3rd in our pool with 4 wins, our only round game losses were to the 2 teams that played it out in the Grand Final and we only went down 1-0 to the eventual winners Redlands in a nail-biter. Most of the teams in this division were very closely matched and any one of about six teams could have won the championship given the right conditions on the day.

Excellent performances by everyone ensured this team was a cohesive, professional and fun unit. All players represented Toowoomba proudly and are all capable of great things in the future. The girls can’t wait for next year.

Under 10 Girls Blue
The Toowoomba Twisters Blue Development Under 10 Girls had a fantastic season filled with growth, determination and plenty of fun. The girls started the year strongly at the Toowoomba Twisters Carnival before travelling to the Redlands Carnival, Arthur Davis Cup and the Hounds Cup. At every event, they continued to develop their touch football skills, with a strong focus on improving their rucking, mastering the fundamentals and refining their defensive body positioning in both pre- and post-touch situations.

Under 12 Boys White
While we probably didn’t achieve the result we were hoping for, this group competed with some of the best teams in the state in a challenging pool. An upset result ultimately cost us a quarter-final position, but there was plenty to be proud of.

Throughout the campaign, we continued to improve our style of touch and showed that we are beginning to adapt to the next phase of our development. I saw some really significant individual improvement from the initial carnival, which was fantastic to see.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with this group of boys. Their effort, attitude and willingness to learn made coaching them thoroughly enjoyable. 💙

Under 12 Boys Blue
The 12 Boys Blue side enjoyed a positive representative campaign in 2026, showing consistent improvement and growth with every carnival. The highlight of the season came at the Queensland Junior State Cup (JSC), where the team played their best touch football of the year. Back to a full squad of 12 players, while there were no finals to be played for the development division, they set themselves the goal of finishing on top of their development division pool. While they narrowly fell short, finishing 2nd overall with 5 wins and 2 narrow losses, it was an outstanding achievement and a fitting reward for the hard work and improvement shown throughout the representative season.

Under 12 Girls White
The Twisters Under 12 Girls White team had an outstanding JSC carnival. With only 11 players for the entire competition, the girls showed incredible resilience, discipline, and determination in every game.

They finished third in their pool before producing a convincing quarter-final win over Gladstone to earn a place in the semi-finals. Despite a tremendous effort, they were defeated by a much fresher Palm Beach side.

Every player contributed to the team’s success, displaying excellent teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment throughout the carnival. They should all be extremely proud of what they achieved.

Coming soon….

Under 14 Boys
Congratulations to the 14 Boys team who proudly represented the Twisters affiliate this year. What a great bunch of young men who continued to impress each week throughout the 2026 campaign.  An early victory in the Twisters Cup on home turf gave the team a great start, and things looked promising with strong efforts in training

The team earned a quarter-final berth against the top team from the other pool. It was a cracking game and a fantastic display of playing above their weight, only narrowly losing in the dying minutes to miss out on a semi-final. It was one of the better games I have witnessed as a coach, with the boys leaving nothing in the tank.

Under 14 Girls White
The lead up tournaments were a roller-coaster but the team continued to work hard and improve every training session. Drawn in a tough pool for the JSC, the girls overcame an early hiccup to finish the round games strongly and qualify for the quarter finals. A tight 2-1 loss to tournament runner ups BMTA ended our carnival but they showed they can match it with the best. A win in the team relay was another highlight.

What an amazing weekend for our Toowoomba Twisters U14 Girls Blue at the Junior State Cup!

Making the semi-finals is a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the girls’ hard work, determination and teamwork throughout the season. They played with heart, supported each other every step of the way and represented Toowoomba with pride.

A huge thank you to our families and supporters for cheering the girls on all weekend.

Congratulations, girls—we’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve achieved. The future is bright!

Under 16 Boys
The Under 16 Boys faced a challenging Twisters campaign this year. Everything clicked on the opening day of JSC, with the team winning all three of its pool matches to secure a place in the Championship Division. Against some of Queensland’s strongest teams, the boys continued to compete strongly and were in contention in every game. Their determination and growth throughout the season were rewarded with another victory, helping the team finish 9th in Queensland, an outcome that seemed unlikely after our first tournament of the year.

“it’s not how you start, it’s where you finish”…

The 2026 U18 Twisters Boys cohort achieved something no other U18 Twisters team ever has – reaching a JSC final. This team continued to get better, the more they played. A great group of young men and a nice conclusion for several long term Twisters junior representative players.

Under 18 Girls
The under 18 girls had a very successful campaign at the 2026 Junior State Cup. Winning their pool with 3 wins and 1 draw. The girls then won an instant classic in the quarter finals against Townsville in a 6 minute drop off. In our semi final the girls fought hard pushing the Gold Coast girls all the way to a drop off, unfortunately things didn’t go our way eventually losing. The girls fought extremely hard right to the end despite some adversity, they should all be incredibly proud of their effort and the results of the carnival.
